Did I really see that?

A gaggle of swollen-headed dictators, eyes closed, laughing like crazy? Yes! This charming crew appeared as a pop-up performance at the Venice Biennale in November. Did they care about the floods? No more than they care about human rights and democracy.

You don’t live in Zimbabwe, North Korea or Syria? But we’ve all met bullies and tyrants in everyday life. And we know what they can’t stand; other people laughing at them. Once people stopped taking Ceausescu seriously, he was dead within a week. Of these three, Mugabe has snuffed it since the project began. We’d like to take some of the credit for that.

Want to get your hands on your own dictator head?

Over to you…

This is a collaborative social sculpture, so we are making the 3D files available for free, under a Creative Commons licence, for you to customise, share and remix. Could they become a bar stool, toilet brush holder, jelly mould, or bottle stopper? Show us all what you can do!

If you don’t have a printer, or just want to carry around the shrunken head of a vanquished enemy of the people, then we’ve made it easy to order a keyring version. Let’s see who has the last laugh.

An Artists Edition keyring head, hand cast in solid polyurethane from a high definition master, will be awarded each week to the best photo or most creative response.

Winners will be chosen at the discretion of the Last Laugh Project.
